PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE

Past, Present, Future is an exhibition exploring how time, experience, and history impact us.

Often deeply personal, these artists dissect and represent historical and cultural tropes in the hope of revealing something closer to a truth. As the intersections of race, sexual orientation, ethnic beliefs, gender, stigmas, and wealth are investigated, we begin to hear a chorus of rising voices. These are the voices of those who have endured and bared witness to the lasting impact of colonialism, sexism, racism, and other systematic means of oppression.

These artists, with their differing points of views, offer up to us a new understanding of our past and history, creating a more complete collective expression. We see how it has shaped our present, and in some instances, even a way to move forward in hopes of a more just future.

The work unveils emotional realities derived from direct and historically repeating experiences, offering us glimpses of grief and hope. By sharing their lived experiences, they have pulled back the colonialist-white-patriarchal veil of history, exposing the raw and often painful truth that lies just beyond the curtain.
