PERSIST, PERSEVERE, BE
Persist, Persevere, Be is an exhibition exploring resilience
in the face of discrimination. Issues related to systematic forces of racism,
gender and orientation discrimination, and neurodiversity are explored with a
sense of intimacy and emotional insight. Within each piece, the artists approach
these subjects to connect, to break free from the isolation these forces cause and
share the emotional weight they bare due to them.
Humor, education, documentation, medium, and performance all used as expressive tools to bring these issues from the shadows into the light. In doing so, the artists reveal the emotional, psychological, and cultural burdens they carry by persisting in a world that actively works to suppress them simply for being.
