Force explores ideas related to systems of power that influence our lives. Though some of these structures are unseen, they are all felt, amplified, and permeate throughout our daily lives. Their influence is undeniable, though often overlooked and ignored. Force shows the undeniable truths tied to these realities.
Laced throughout the exhibit are works reflecting the impact of sexism, racism, capitalism, and more. Within each work there is a sense of violence being played out, documented, or forewarned about. Whether it is names stitched into a quilt, a statement, or photos from the past, each piece sends a clear warning. Force looks at the past, present, and future and asks the viewer, “now what?”.
