General Artist Funding
This page includes general funding opportunities for individual artists. These funding opportunities are not necessarily tied to race, cultural backgrounds, gender or sexual identities. They are open to everyone, and underrepresented artists are encouraged to apply. If you know of any other funding sites please email us, and we will add it to the list. General Funding For Artists List
Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation
Adolph left instructions in his will that a foundation be created to benefit “mature, creative painters and sculptors.” When Adolph died in 1974, this paragraph became a mandate for an artists’ estate to develop a program that would provide direct financial assistance to individual artists.
Offers grants to individuals in the Performing & Visual Arts, Film/Video, Literature, and Emerging Fields. Creative Capital provides each funded project with up to $50,000 in direct funding and career development services valued at $40,000, for a total commitment of up to $90,000 per project.
Grants up to $2,500; average grant is approximately $1,250.
Artist Grant provides a $500 grant to one visual artist each grant cycle. Once an artist wins a grant, they may not apply again. They also award runners-up with $100 grant each. Runners-up may apply again in a future grant cycle.
Each year the Virginia A. Groot Foundation offers three grants (up to $50,000, $20,000, $10,000) to artists who have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in ceramics or sculpture. Artists may be at any stage of career. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of the application deadline.
The Boynes Emerging Artist Award
The Boynes Emerging Artist Award is an international online art competition for all 2D mediums. Three monetary prizes are awarded from $300- $1,200, plus a free marketing campaign.
The Foundation’s grant program awards 7-10 grants annually. Grants are made directly to artists to support their development. The Foundation also supports two residency fellowship programs- The Native American Residency and the Emerging Artist Residency Fellowships.
